Your cork accessory requires little maintenance. It is quite simple to take care of this very resistant material.
The only dangers are repetitive intense rubbing, machine wash and excessive sun exposure. Indeed, as with wood, very intensive sun exposure will alter the colour over time.
If your accessory gets dirty, do not put it directly into the washing machine. The high temperature and constant rotation could damage it. .
Instead, use the simple and environmentally friendly technique below. You will only need the following three things:
Water
Marseille Soap
A sponge or a soft cloth
If you wish to “revive” your cork accessory, you can also polish it with a paraffin soaked cotton pad (every three years). This technique will maintain the intrinsic moisture content of the cork.
